Thursday 31 August 2017

Unfortunately due to lack of support this year's Abbotswood Apple Day due to take place in October has been cancelled, the next event will be the Christmas event on 25th November.

We hope this hasn't caused you any inconvenience and look forwards to the Christmas event. In the mean time do keep an eye out for other AAG organised things which are ongoing for you to be involved in.

Such as the 2 gardening groups which take place on Friday afternoons from 1pm till 3pm at the Allotment garden by St Nix Church or every Second Sunday meeting at the shops at Abbotswood, new members always welcome.

Friday 11 August 2017

  • If you haven't been already do pop down to the Underpass (under Rodford Way) which comes out by the shops at Abbotswood to take a look at the brand new art which has been created under there.

  • It was created by children, young people and adults who live locally during a series of workshops to practise and then painting workshops at the end of July.

  • The images which are on the walls all came from ideas which were suggested by people who live locally.
  • The images were then translated into patterns by Tom and Jack of Paintsmiths who facilitated the workshops and lead on the painting of the Underpass.
  • The money to pay for the project was raised by Abbotswood Action Group through grants from the local Police and Crime Commissioner Community Fund and also via Member Awarded Funding from South Gloucestershire Council.
  • If you aren't able to wander that way then do take a look at the photos of the new art which you can find on the Abbotswood Action Group Facebook page.

The next open meeting of the Abbotswood Action Group will take place on Tuesday 17th January at 7.30pm.

In the Abbotswood Inn pub. Everyone is very welcome to join us.

What are Open Meetings of the Abbotswood Action Group? I hear you ask,...

We always hope that many neighbours and local residents will come along and join in.

It as an opportunity for anyone and everyone who lives and/or works locally to get together and chat about ideas, issues and offer opinions about things which are going on in the Abbotswood and surrounding area of Yate.

To learn about new things which may be going on or coming up.

It is an especially good opportunity to find out ways in which you can get involved in taking actions to develop and grow the area.

It is a get together for everyone.

Each year Abbotswood Action Group organises and runs 4 Community Events - Spring Clean Up, a Summer Event, Apple Day and Christmas Lights Celebration and has lots more planned between them for this New Year.

Please do come along if you would like to find out more.
